Profhilo®

Profhilo® is a high quality aesthetic treatment which improves the appearance of fine fines and skin quality through hydration and biostimulation of collagen and elastin. Treatment not only results in healthy, radiant, glowing skin; you can actually feel the difference.

We start to lose naturally occurring hyaluronic acid, collagen and elastin in our skin from the age of 30, so treatments aimed at boosting new growth are essential.

Profhilo® is an injectable moisturiser, made of the same hyaluronic acid molecule as dermal filler, but with a key difference in the manufacturing process. This difference creates a smooth runny hydrating product which is used superficially (subdermal) as a biostimulator. However, rather than adding volume, it acts as a skin fertiliser which supports cellular structures in the skin which lose their efficiency as we age.

Profhilo® has both short term and long term preventative properties and is suitable for almost anyone. It can be used in the face, neck and décolletage, as well as be combined with any of our other treatments.

Profhilo® has had a lot of attention recently following excitement about its launch in Australia. Although it is a newcomer in the overall scheme of injectables we have been using it in New Zealand for over five years!

Two treatments, spaced four weeks apart are recommended initially, and can be repeated as frequently as desired, with most people repeating annually.

Profhilo® does not replace other injectable treatments such as anti-wrinkle or dermal filler, it works in a different way and therefore is complementary to other skin treatments, and active skin care.

Profhilo® FAQs

  • As with all of our treatments, if you are new to Fé clinic, we require you to undergo an initial consultation to review your concerns, conduct a medical assessment, and determine suitability for treatment.

Unlike traditional filler, Profhilo® treatment has a prescribed set of treatment points known as bio aesthetic points (BAP). Although all injectables have some level of discomfort, Profhilo® is a relatively quick and easy treatment that is well tolerated.

After treatment you will have small raised bumps in the skin, and these may last for up to 48 hours. These are more obvious in the neck, and the least visible in the face.

  • Profhilo® stays in the skin for 28 days, and during this time you may notice your skin feels extra soft and hydrated. It takes time for the biostimulation to create the improvement in the tissue, as new collagen and elastin are formed over time.

Results are lasting, however as we will continue to age, we recommend repeating a course of treatment annually.

  • Following treatment normal activities can be resumed.

We will provide you with detailed verbal and written aftercare advice at your appointment.

You may have mild tenderness and notice small mosquito-like bumps at the points treated for up to 48 hours. You also may have bruising.  The general aftercare precautions include the following instructions:

Do not rub or touch the area for 4- 6 hours post treatment.

Avoid makeup for 24 hours post treatment

Avoid strenuous exercise for 48 hours.

Strictly no other skin treatments for 2 weeks.

No dental treatment for 1 month following treatment.

  • There are minimal risks with this treatment. Potential risks/side effects include:

Swelling bruising redness, lumpiness tenderness. Mosquito bite bumps may take 24 - 28 hours to resolve. More visible in the neck, less in the face.

Rare complications include allergic reactions, the formation of granulomas or delayed onset nodules, secondary bacterial or viral infections (for example reactivation of the cold sore virus), damage to vascular structures, ischemia and blindness (very rare).

  • Single treatment | $850

Treatment regime per area | $1,600 (includes two 2ml treatments spaced four weeks apart)
