Anti-wrinkle Aftercare

What to expect after your treatment

There might be redness, swelling or tenderness in the treated area. This is normal following filler injections and will generally resolve within a few days. The tenderness may increase in the hours following treatment as the local anaesthetic in the product wears off. This can be relieved by taking paracetamol.

Swelling is common and may increase over the first 24-48 hours. You may apply a cool compress for 10 minutes every hour to help reduce swelling on the day of treatment (do not apply ice directly to the skin).

Bruising is a common and expected side effect following dermal filler and will not affect the outcome of your treatment. To help reduce bruising, please ensure you avoid blood thinning medications and supplements for 7 days pre- and post- dermal filler treatment.

Sometimes lumps are palpable or you may be more aware of the product in the first few weeks following treatment. This is normal and the product will generally integrate into the tissue over time.

Immediate aftercare - what to do at home

  • Please do not touch the area or wear any makeup for 24 hours after treatment.

  • Avoid any heat inducing activities for 24 hours such as strenuous exercise, spas, saunas and hot showers.

  • Avoid putting pressure on the area for the first 48 hours (avoid face down massages).

  • Avoid alcohol for 24 hours.

  • Avoid active skin care (such as AHAs, retinols, vitamin C) and oil based makeup for 24 hours.

  • Avoid taking supplements especially those with fish oil, garlic, ginseng, and vitamin E for at least one week.

  • Avoid OTC Medication that cause blood thinning or slow down blood clotting such as Aspirin and Ibuprofen for one week before and for one week after treatment

  • Avoid facials, waxing, chemical peels, skin needling, Hydrafacial, IPL or laser treatments for 2 weeks after treatment. Please discuss your future treatment plans with your practitioner.

  • Avoid dental treatment for 1 month following treatment.

  • Do not massage the treatment area unless instructed to do so.

Treatment Follow up

It takes 4-6 weeks for the dermal filler to settle and heal into the tissue. At this point you will see the final result. It is not unusual to require further treatment after 4-6 weeks to achieve your desired results. It is normal to require multiple treatments in the first year if you are new to dermal filler, once desired outcomes have been achieved maintenance reviews are generally recommended once or twice yearly.
